The Other Face of Istanbul

Istanbul is not completed unless you join the The Other Face Istanbul.  It offers a great experiences of visiting two non touristy mosques , Şehzade mosque and Pantrocator  church/mosque ( 1119 A.D). After this we will walk by 4th century A.D. Valens Aqueducts. Taste the famous Boza. Visit the Womes' neighborhood market where food comes from Eastern Turkey, enjoy a delicious lunch at a non touristy restaurant.

Tour Appeal: This tour is designed for those interested in off the beaten sites and less known attractions. Byzantine history, religion, photography, local cuisine.

Inclusions: English speaking local guide, public transportation fees ( return )

Exclusions: Lunch. Aprox 10-15 USD pp. Tipping to the guide. Recommended amount 10+ Euro or US$ per person.

Group size: This tour has daily departure for maximum of 12 people.

Child Policy: Children aged 6 to 11 years are 35 Euro per child. Children above the age of 11 are charged full price. Parents of children under 6 years are advised to book a private tour.



Itinerary 

Our meeting point is the Alman Çeşmesi / German Fountain  in Sultanhamet – located in the heart of the main tourist area of Istanbul.  
From our meeting point we will walk to the tram station ( 2 minutes ) will get the tram to Laleli district and walk to 16 century Şehzade mosque. This is the mosque built by the famous architect Sinan for the Şehzade ( prince ) Mehmet who died in age twenty. 
From here we walk another five minutes further where we will see those Roman aqueducts which are challenging the centuries. This is the aquducts used to provide the fresh water for the city Constantinople. 
We will have a break at the Vefa Bozacısı where this drink has been served from the same place for a century. 
From here we will walk for five minutes furter to Pantrokator Church which was built in 1119 A.D by Agusta Irini the Hungarian princess. This church is being coverted to a mosque by the Ottomans. 
After this, our next stop is the Kadınlar pazarı where the Eastern Kurdish population is located in Fatih district. Food comes from different provinces of east and southeast Anatolia. We will have lunch break here at a lokanta ( local restaurant ). Your foody guide will order the food for you. Vegetarian food is available. We will conclude our lunch with a Turkish çay or Turkish coffee.  After this we will catch a to tram ride back to Sultanahmet area where we will end the tour.  Or we can put you in a bus if you want to go to Karakoy/Galata area. Alternativly, you can walk to Grand Bazaar from the here for 15 minutes.
