Byzantine and Ottoman Relics 

Istanbul is not completed unless you join the Istanbul Experiences Tour. This tour brings many of the must seen sights and off the beaten paths together. It offers a great experiences of visiting Ottoman parliament house Topkapı palace where empire was controlled for 400 years and where sultans, Concubines and Eunuch lived together. After this we will walk to the non touristy Şehazade Mosque, , walk by 4th century A.D. Valens Aqueducts, visit the neighborhood market where food comes from Eastern Turkey, enjoy a delicious lunch at a non touristy restaurant. Walk by the Roman city walls, visit iconic Chora church museum.

  • Visit iconic Chora church museum which built as a church by Romans, coverted to a mosque by Ottomans in 1450s  an now it is a museum since 1930s.

Tour Appeal: This tour is designed for those interested in Ottoman and Byzantine history, religion, writing, photography, local cuisine and experincing the local baths 

Inclusions: English speaking local guide, entry fees, lunch at a local restaurant (two courses ), soft drinks, turkish coffee/ tea at the lunch, public transportation fees. 


 Exclusions: Entry fee to Harem section of the Topakapı palace ( 5 Euro per person ) Extra drinks and shopping expenses.Tipping to the guide. Recommended amount  5-10 Euro or US$ per person. 

Group size: This tour has daily ( except Tuesdays) departure for maximum of 10 people.

Child Policy: Children aged 5 to 7 years are 50 Euro per child. Children above the age of 8 are charged full price. Parents of children under 5 years are advised to book a private tour. 



Itinerary 

Our meeting point is the Fuego Cafe & Restaurant in Sultanhamet – located in the heart of the main tourist area of Istanbul.  
From our meeting point we will walk to Topkapı palace ( 5 minutes ) and visit the home of royal family for four hundred years.
After the Topkapı palace we will get the tram to Laleli district and walk to 16 century Şehzade mosque. This is the mosque built by the famous architect Sinan for the Şehzade ( prince ) Mehmet who died in age twenty. 
From here we walk another five minutes further where we will see those Roman aqueducts which are challenging the centuries. This is the aquducts used to provide the water for the city Constantinople. 
After this, our next stop is the Kadınlar pazarı where the Eastern Kurdish population is located in Fatih district. Food comes from different provinces of east and southeast Anatolia. We will have lunch break here at a lokanta ( local restaurant ). Your foody guide will order the food for you. Vegetarian food is available. We will conclude our lunch with a Turkish çay or Turkish coffee and catch a bus to the Chora museum. Your expert guide will read all those impressive historic 10-14 century icons, mosaics and fresco for you. From here we will have a short walk to city walls near by. These walls were built in 4th century A.D by Roman Emperor Theodosius to defense  the city. Your guide can help those whom wants to walk up to the walls for a nice view of the city and to feel the history underneath of your feet. After this we will catch a bus to the Sultanahmet area where we will end the tour.
